ABOUT THE CHEF
ABOUT THE CHEF
Hello! My name is Debra Andrews. I live on Long
Island with my husband and two children.
I've always enjoyed entertaining!
In 1985 I decorated my first cake (with the guidance of
my mom who taught me the basics- thanks mom). It
was satisfying to me, to take food, and make it into
something that was visually entertaining as well as
palate pleasing. A few years later I was taught how to
make home made manicotti pasta and filling from a
friend's mom. (moms are the best)
This began my interest in cooking and baking. I've
always tried new recipes for my family. And my kids
always had a "very cool" birthday cake.
Finally, I found the time to fulfill my dream of going to
culinary school. I attended the Culinary Academy of
Long Island, where I studied under Executive Chef
George Schneider. I graduated with a certificate in
Professional Cooking, and a certificate of merit in
Baking and Pastry Arts.
After culinary school, I spent some time at Oheka
Castle in Cold Spring Hills decorating high end
wedding and special occasion cakes under the
direction of Executive Chef Daniel Andreotti.
I then took a job cooking for a couple when the wife
was injured. I enjoyed making a difference in people's
every day lives. I made their chores of meal planning,
shopping, cooking and cleaning up vanish! The wife
felt at ease to relax and recover, and her husband
could resume his normal routine without interruption.
I then realized that this was the perfect job for me. I
enjoy helping people, and I enjoy cooking and baking.
What a perfect combination! So I decided to make it a
business of my own. My only hope is to satisfy every
client's expectations as well as I did my very first
client!
Thank you for visiting my website and thanks to my
current clients for their continued support and
referrals.
